Take a look behind the scenes of any thriving business and you will most likely find they have one thing in common – high employee morale. Sure, a business may be able to operate adequately without highly motivated team members who rally around each other and leadership, but who wants to just be adequate? Boosting morale, especially in challenging seasons, is imperative to a successful, long lasting business.

Invest in the team.
At Stratos, our people are at the heart of what we do. We know that without our service partners, our company simply wouldn’t exist. We strive to show how much we value each team member by not only investing in their professional lives, but their personal ones, as well. We refer to this as investing in the “whole person.” We believe that if service partners do not have their most basic needs met outside the workplace, they will not be able to meet the needs of our customers. So, what’s one way you can invest in your team? From providing training that will help further their careers to connecting them with a financial literacy counselor, the ways you can invest in your team are endless.

Focus on culture and communication.
Culture and communication – at Stratos, we call these words the “two C’s.” You may have the tools in place to facilitate communication between employees, but it is the culture of the entire team that is vital to its success. Effective internal communication cannot be achieved without first having a healthy company culture – the two go hand-in-hand. Fantastic team communication is shaped by a positive company culture where team members are valued, understood and involved. Focusing on these two elements is sure to strengthen morale.

Have some fun.
Last but not least, morale simply cannot be boosted without a little fun. If possible, try to occasionally squeeze some joy into the workday. Whether you do so by recognizing a group’s stellar performance on a project or celebrating a team member’s work anniversary, going the extra mile to bring smiles will show you truly care.

At the end of the day, there is no denying that the happier employees are, the better they will perform for customers. What is one thing you can do this month to enhance morale in your place of business?
